Avoid the “<\/b>Cart Before the Horse<\/i><\/b>” Mistake in Email Marketing<\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n

Email is the most valuable asset you will ever build in online marketing.<\/b><\/p>\n

It’s how you build trust in your prospects.<\/b><\/p>\n

It’s how you communicate with your prospects.<\/b><\/p>\n

It’s how your prospects get to know you.<\/b><\/p>\n

and, hopefully, it’s how your prospects get to like you enough to buy your stuff.<\/b><\/p>\n

One of the entities you will have to deal with are what’s called the ISP’s or Internet Service Providers.\u00a0 Those are the providers of your cable services, telephone services and your internet service.<\/b><\/p>\n

The ISP’s are huge haters of spammers.<\/b><\/p>\n

Don’t be a spammer.<\/b><\/p>\n

How?<\/b><\/p>\n

By showing them you are a professional email marketer.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

“How” you ask?<\/b><\/p>\n

Well first off, don’t LOOK like a spammer by using free email services like Gmail, Yahoo Mail, HotMail, etc. to conduct your marketing business.<\/b><\/p>\n

Get what’s called a Domain-Based email you can use.<\/b><\/p>\n

How’s that work?<\/b><\/p>\n

It works with the domain you select to host your services like sales pages, articles and lead capture pages.<\/b><\/p>\n

Example:\u00a0 My domain is https:\/\/www.AIAssetMan.com<\/a><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

My email is Fred@AIAssetMan.com<\/a><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Notice how those work together?\u00a0 My domain not only is used for websites and blogs but also email services.<\/b><\/p>\n

and here’s the bottom line:\u00a0 The ISP’s who host and route your email to your prospect notice that too.\u00a0 You are not a Gmail-based spammer.<\/b><\/p>\n

You are a professional marketer who has his own domain and the email that goes with it.<\/b><\/p>\n

If you skip these steps, your beautifully written emails may never reach the inbox. They may land in Spam\u2014or not be delivered at all.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

I just went through this myself, and here’s what I learned.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Now there are a few things that are gonna scare you if I don’t set this up right.\u00a0 So here goes.<\/b><\/p>\n

Your email needs what’s called an SMTP service.\u00a0 SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol).\u00a0 SMTP is set up on the back end of your domain by technicians who get paid ($20) to do that.<\/b><\/p>\n

Your Email also needs SPF\/DMARC\/DKIM services.\u00a0 Again, done by paid experts on the backend of your domain.\u00a0 You just tell\u2019em what you want, pay $8 and they do it in a couple of days.<\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"SPF: (Sender Policy Framework)<\/b>: A DNS record that lists all authorized IP addresses allowed to send emails from your domain. It prevents spammers from spoofing your domain name. SPF is essential for maintaining domain reputation. It blocks unauthorized senders, which significantly reduces spam complaints and ensures ISPs trust your outbound promotional emails.<\/span><\/p>\n

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)<\/b>: DKIM is like putting your digital signature on every email. It proves the email really came from you and wasn’t changed along the way. It verifies that the email was genuinely sent by the domain owner and wasn’t altered in transit. DKIM guarantees email integrity and brand protection. It proves your content wasn’t altered by hackers, boosting inbox placement rates and protecting subscribers from phishing<\/span><\/p>\n

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance)<\/b>: An email protocol using SPF and DKIM to determine email authenticity. It tells receiving servers how to handle emails that fail checks and provides reports on domain usage.\u00a0 Provides complete control and visibility. DMARC blocks domain spoofing entirely, stops phishing attacks in your name, and grants detailed reports to track delivery health.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alright, if you are still with me (and I hope you are because you are done with the hard part of online marketing) the reason I go through all this with you is so that down the road when I say “It’s time to get your SMTP service set up.\u00a0 Here’s how…” that you don’t feel like kicking me in the teeth cause you say to yourself, “Oh yeah, he told me about that in an email.”<\/b><\/p>\n

These are just the little things that set you up to be a professional marketer.\u00a0 Oh, yeah, they are not expensive either.\u00a0 Your Web host who hosts your website will set up your SMTP for $10 or so.\u00a0 I can’t remember what I paid my SPF\/DMARC\/DKIM guy but it was like $20 or so I think.\u00a0 One time cost.<\/b><\/p>\n

So how does this relate to my subject line “<\/b>Avoid the “Cart Before the Horse” Mistake in Email Marketing.<\/i><\/b>”\u00a0 That’s what I call it when people just start using their GMail account for marketing without considering the consequences.<\/b><\/p>\n

Well, this email is getting long so I think I’ll put it up on my blog as an article.\u00a0 It will be a good asset.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

This is another example of the AIAssetMan philosophy: <\/b>

I didn’t write this because I read it in a manual. I wrote it because I just spent several days getting my own email system authenticated. If I can save you that frustration, this article has done its job.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
